Overview
This class teaches the basic functions and features of Word 2003.  Students will learn how to create and edit documents, move and copy text, format characters and paragraphs, create and manage tables, control page layout, and use proofing tools. They'll also learn how to work with Word's integrated Web and e-mail features.

Outline

Unit 1 – Getting Started.  This unit covers the elements of the Word window, creating and saving documents and accessing and using Help.

Unit 2 – Editing Documents.  This unit covers opening and moving around in a document, using Word's automated tasks, editing text in a document, using the Undo and Redo commands.

Unit 3 – Moving and Copying Text.  This unit covers selecting text using the mouse and keyboard; cutting, copying, and pasting text; and searching for and replacing text.

Unit 4 – Formatting Characters and Paragraphs.  This unit covers changing the appearance of text by applying character formatting; aligning text by using tabs; formatting paragraphs by aligning text, adding borders, and applying bullets and numbering.

Unit 5 - Creating and Managing Tables.  This unit covers creating tables; navigating, selecting elements, adding text, and applying formatting to a table; and editing the structure of tables.

Unit 6 - Controlling Page Layout.  This unit covers adding headers and footers to a document, setting and changing margins, and adding and deleting manual page breaks.

Unit 7 - Proofing and Printing Documents.  This unit covers proofing a document and using the Thesaurus, and previewing and printing documents.

Unit 8 - Web Features.  This unit covers saving and opening a document as a Web page, inserting and using hyperlinks in a document, and sending a document via e-mail.
