Overview
This class teaches intermediate-level features and functions of Word 2003. Students will learn how to work with sections and columns, format tables, import Excel data, create and modify styles, and work with headers and footers. They will also learn how to print labels and envelopes, work with graphics and objects, apply and create templates, and manage document versions.

Outline

Unit 1 – Working with Sections and Columns.  This unit covers creating ad formatting sections in a document, formatting text into multiple columns, entering and sorting text in columns.

Unit 2 – Formatting Tables.  This unit covers modifying a table by aligning text, merging cells, changing text orientation, and resizing rows and columns; highlighting table cells by adding borders and shading; using the Table AutoFormat command to format tables, and set a default table format; and using the Tables and Borders toolbar to draw and modify tables.

Unit 3 – Working with Excel Data.  This unit covers importing data, formatting data in tables, and creating and modifying charts; using formulae to perform calculations in a table; and linking and embedding Excel data in Word.

Unit 4 – Working with Styles.  This unit covers using styles to apply multiple formats; modifying and deleting styles; and using Outline view, the Document Map pane, and thumbnails to navigate through a large document.

Unit 5 - Headers and Footers.  This unit covers creating headers and footers for the first page, odd and even pages, and sections in a document; inserting and formatting page numbers and chapter numbers in a document.

Unit 6 - Printing Labels and Envelopes.  This unit covers setting up and printing single labels and envelopes.

Unit 7 - Working with Graphics and Objects.  This unit covers working with graphics and clip art, inserting WordArt and symbols into a document, customizing the background of a document, and using the Drawing tools to create objects.

Unit 8 - Document Templates.  This unit covers using a template to create a document; and creating and protecting document templates, viewing and editing document properties, and adding and modifying template fields.

Unit 9 - Managing Document Revisions.  This unit covers tracking document changes while editing; inserting, editing, viewing, printing, and deleting comments; and creating, saving, and comparing document versions.
